Dalia Koppes & River F. Berry

About Dalia

Dalia, a self-taught artist, has been creating abstract art for over 30 years. She is an intuitive artist who is greatly influenced by nature and the environment she lives in. Her imagination plays a great role in her work. Dalia offers the viewer a visual feast by incorporating layers of organic shapes and vibrant colors. She believes that art is a form of therapeutic solace and a way to escape for a moment in these turbulent times we live in. Dalia’s work can be found in private and public collections. I view my work as an extension of myself and my imagination. Creating abstract pieces gives me a sense of freedom and endless possibilities to use my creativity. Just as nature has no bounds, the inspiration I get from nature and my environment is endless and always exciting for me to explore. If people feel joy, peace, or excitement when they view my art, then I feel I have done my job.

About River

River F. Berry works at the intersections of craft processes, print, and performance. This series presents the viewer with domestic landscapes, which represent the artist’s interpretations of tradition, gender, and material. Berry’s artistic journey revolves around fiber installations, paying homage to the rich heritage of craft. This connection to fiber originates in her childhood spent sewing quilts with her grandmother, and embodies both a personal relationship with craft and resonates with broader Western traditions. Berry’s recent body of work is heavily influenced by the women in her life, the roles they have and the expectations that have been placed upon them by society. She focuses on recreating the memories and visual motifs of her childhood to emulate the perspective of her younger self. These familial influences, along with her personal collection of objects, form the core of her installation works.

An opening reception will be held at Adamah Ceramics on May 16th from 6 pm - 8 pm. Light refreshments will be provided
